Chapter 1-Vangile of Wealthy Money

Truly hope you enjoy and are inspired by this week’s episode with Vangile Makwakwa of Wealthy Money.

In this chapter, Vangile talks about how healing her trauma has helped her to heal her relationship with money. She also talks about the role travel has played in her healing journey.

You can reach out to Vangile on her website Wealthy-Money.com.

Vangile mentions an inspiring quote in our chat:

“Sometimes when you’re in a dark place you think you’ve been buried, but you’ve actually been planted.”

  1. A few days ago, I was looking for a retreat getaway where I’d be able to do a detox, meditation, quiet retreat, mindfulness meditation, hiking, yoga, etc. I posted on the Brothas and Sistas of Chiang Mai group but never really found a lead. I wish I found Vangile then. Being a South African woman whose been living and working abroad for a little while now, Vangile’s retreats would’ve really been beneficial to me. Her story really resonates with me so much!

I’m on my own little retreat. I wasn’t really looking for touristy places either. I’m not big on such places they suffocate me. So I found a place in the mountains in the north of Vietnam. A mountain house. Beautiful location, albeit the random tourist that come by every now and then. This is my 2nd week here and I’m getting the much needed recharging I need to face another grueling academic year. I’m a teacher by profession and have been working in the hustling and bustling city of Ho Chi Minh for a year now. And I’ve worked in the (mentally) draining and torturous UAE. This is my first real break in terms of getting rest and really shutting down from the madness of work.

I really like the work Vangile is doing and would very much like to one day connect with her. The issues around money and spiritual well-being and really just taking a journey of self discovery through travel and financial freedom and all the burdensome yokes we carry as a people are what attracts me to her spirit. I want to learn more! I am teachable! And I’m really inspired by her life’s journey! As I was listening to this podcast, I was preparing for my early morning solo hike through the mountains. And my heart was beaming with a smile and laughter because she’s so much like me! and all the while thinking; “finally, someone who understands! I can hear it in her voice that she gets excited by life! What an awesome soul!

    1. So sweet of you to share!! I’m so glad this resonated with you. You should absolutely connect with Vangile.
Hope your time in north Viet Nam is going well. Hope you are getting exactly what you need.

Also hope that this next school year won’t be so heavy for you.

Thank you for taking the time to listen and message.

      Much love to you,
      Wanda

      1. Yes! Yes! I love how she is honest about mental health and being honest about healing. Getting to the root of it as well. I also loved how she couldn’t be an “adult,” in a conventional way. So she paved her own way. I want to do all of this, so it is encouraging, inciteful and honest.
